Meet Our Team
Candace Plattor, M.A., R.C.C.
Candace Plattor is an Addictions Therapist in private practice, where she specializes in working with the family and other loved ones of people who are struggling with addiction, in her unique and signature Family Addiction Therapy Program. As a former addict with over 30 years clean and sober, Candace learned that overcoming addiction is a family condition: everyone in the family is affected by addiction and everyone needs to heal. For three decades, she has been helping both addicts and their loved ones understand their dysfunctional behaviours and make healthier life choices.
You can visit her website and sign up to receive Chapter 1 of her award-winning book, Loving an Addict, Loving Yourself: The Top 10 Survival Tips for Loving Someone with an Addiction, and “Like” her Facebook page.
The results Candace achieves have been astounding: addicts stop using and families regain their lives from the ravages of addiction. Not only has her success led to a waiting list of clients but she is a sought after leader in the field of addictions. As the developer of the Plattor Method of Family Addiction Therapy, Candace now works with her team of top counsellors, helping families and addicts break the cycle of addiction for good.

Anna Dobos, M.A. (Candidate)
As a psychology and sociology graduate, Anna’s fascination with helping people overcome their self-defeating behaviours brought her to the field of addiction counselling. For the past 10 years, her counselling experience has included working with people struggling with addiction, abuse, terminal illness, depression, and anxiety. In her post-graduate studies she was seeking immersion in working with the families and loved ones of addicts. This led her to joining Candace Plattor’s team of highly trained family addiction therapists.
Serena Slatten, M.C.P., R.C.C.
After years of working in a rehab centre dealing with mental health and addiction, Serena decided to pursue a Masters in Counselling Psychology. Seeking more guidance in supporting addicts in their recovery, she was referred to the Candace Plattor program by her Adlerian professor. She brings a wealth of experience working with high risk youth, homeless populations, individuals with developmental disorders, and adults in residential treatment settings. This made her an ideal fit for the Plattor Method and she is now one of our leading therapists supporting addicts and their families.
Zander Townend brings a wealth of experience both personally and professionally to families and individuals struggling with addiction. Since 1990, he has drawn on his own 36 years of recovery to help his clients regain connection to themselves holistically, using a multitude of counselling and therapeutic modalities. He has broad experience working with First Nations and indigenous communities, offenders and survivors of sexual assault, as well as in suicide prevention, and grief and loss. As a passionate advocate for all those seeking recovery from addiction, Zander is excited to reach more families as a member of the Love With Boundaries Family Addiction Therapy team.
Caitlin Zalm, M.A.
Caitlin holds an M.A. in Counselling Psychology from Adler University and is a Registered Clinical Counsellor. Supporting others to develop their potential, self-worth, and sense of empowerment has always been a passion of hers. However, it was Caitlin’s experiences working in a group home, family shelter, and residential treatment centre for addiction that inspired and motivated her to pursue counselling, so that she can best support clients to build the life they want and deserve.
She believes deeply in the resilience and capacity of each person to meet the adversity, pain, and unpredictability that life brings, and feels honoured to be invited into each person’s journey towards health and contentment. Caitlin’s work incorporates a trauma-informed method of counselling and is heavily informed by client-centred and strength-based approaches. Her goal is to help clients develop a sense of clarity and authenticity, so they can experience a more fulfilling life and come to a place of greater peace within themselves.
